Blessed by the Best. Sermon by K. Marshall Williams, Sr.
Psalm 103:1–5

God is awesome! In His essence. He’s holy, omnipotent, omnipresent, omniscient, and immutable. His longsuffering and loving-kindness are better than life (Ps. 63:3)! His goodness and mercies are new every morning (Lam. 3:23). He’s faithful and just (1 John. 1:9). He’s our creator, reconciler, and keeper! As the assembly of the called, we’re innumerably blessed (Eph. 1:4)!

Blessing

We kneel honoring Him. We speak well of the God of our salvation. That’s why David said, “Bless the LORD, O my soul; and all that is within me, bless His holy name” (Ps. 103:1). In light of that, from the rising of the sun to the going down of the same, His name is worthy to be praised.

Preeminence of Praise

Praise must be preeminent! Worship Him for who He is! Praise Him for what He’s done! Ascribing worth to Him by obedience brings unobligatory acts of kindness (James 1:22–25).

David twice encourage himself (1 Sam. 30:6), thinking out loud about rendering God, enthusiastic praise with his all! Public or private, dependent disciples, instantaneously with every inclination and body faculty give affirmation and acclamation to the Almighty (Ps. 105:1–3)! We ought to praise Him for His unforgettable acts done for our well-being (Ps. 103:2–5).

Benefits

Forgiveness of Sin
The prosecutor (Satan) demanded death. The Judge (God) examined the evidence, ready to pronounce us guilty, when a Mediator of Mercy (Jesus) came in and said, “I’ll pay the penalty and satisfy justice.

I’ll be disgraced so they may receive My amazing grace” (Isa. 53). The Judge (God) said case dismissed, saved by grace (Titus 3:5–6)! His benefits, in verse 3: He forgives all my sins.

Redemption from Destruction
The psalmist says that He redeems my life from destruction (Ps. 103:4a). He gifted us with redemption from the slave market of sin and death by His perfect sacrifice (Rom. 6:23). A new creature in Christ with no condemnation (Rom. 8:1)!

Loyal Love
The psalmist says that He crowns us with His love, which is unconditional and sacrificial (1 John 3:14–18).

If you ever doubt God’s love, just look at Calvary where they hung Him high, stretched Him wide, and dropped Him low; but early Sunday morning, He got up from the grave with all power in His hands (1 Cor. 15:3–4)!

Soul Satisfaction
“Who satisfies your mouth with good things” (Ps. 103:5a). “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied” (Matt. 5:6 NASB).

We will be renewed and have the speed and strength of an eagle (Isa. 40:31). When you’re blessed by God you won’t wear out, for the Lord preserves the faithful (Ps. 31:23b).

Conclusion
God promised Israel with comprehensive blessings of respect, prosperity, purity, and dominance if they would but follow Him (Deut. 28:3–5, 12).

So follow Him so you can be in a place to add value to others. You have already been blessed with the greatest blessing in the person and presence of God, so be a blessing to a blessing to someone today (2 Cor. 9:6–8)!
