Thoughts of The Bible

Like Hidden Gold

Henry Ward Beecher 14

Like Hidden Gold
The truths of the Bible are like gold in the soil. Whole generations walk over it, and know not what treasures are hidden beneath.

So centuries of men pass over the Scriptures, and know not what riches lie under the feet of their interpretation. Sometimes when they discover them, they call them new truths. One might as well call gold, newly dug, new gold.

The Bible, without a spiritual life to interpret it, is like a trellis on which no vine grows—bare, angular and in the way. The Bible with a spiritual life, is like a trellis covered with a luxuriant vine—beautiful, odorous, and heavy with purple clusters shining through the leaves.—BEECHER.

Picture a life in which you get to bless others whenever and wherever the Spirit moves you.

DAILY DEVOTIONAL

Time to Imagine

Robert Morris
I want to invite you to daydream a bit. I’m not suggesting that you mentally check out and head to the golf course or the beach in your imagination. Devotional by Robert Morris
Long ago, God promised a new covenant of grace for His people Israel.

DAILY DEVOTIONAL

The Promise of a New Covenant

Bob Hoekstra
Long ago, God promised a new covenant of grace for His people Israel. I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel. Some day, the Israelites will turn to Messiah as a group and enter into this promised covenant of grace.
Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.

DAILY DEVOTIONAL

The God of the Second Chance

Anne Graham Lotz
As we begin the new year, have you stopped making resolutions because of repeated failure to keep the old ones? Do your past failures discourage you in the present and paralyze you for the future?
Understand genuine faith means realizing God wants to provide His very best for you. - Charles Stanley

DAILY DEVOTIONAL

Genuine Faith

Charles Stanley
Many people who think they have faith in God are actually dominated by fears and doubts—overwhelmed by the circumstances of their lives. Is there something you fear you’ll never achieve or receive?.
